Capstone re-cap

Capstone senior project was a challenging experience. having to juggle between school, home, and two jobs was the hardest. not only i had to make time to research and have live experiences in the field, but  meet deadlines. however after balancing everything at the end it came out to be pretty good my judge had one question that was easy to answer after it was over i just had a good sensation.

Prezi

I chosed prezi due to the fact that i wanted to try something new and i enjoyed the idea of a movie type of looking powerpoint.

Presentation proposal :)

My theme will be education and my booth will have colors that relate to schools in general (such as red, green and brown).
There will be brochures and a  small model of the mobile agency as well as the hard copy of the curriculum that we will use. I will have my laptop or my information which will be a PSA (30 sec.) and my website. on my table there will be a poster (tri-fold) which will have information (pretty much the brochure just in larger size) about the agency. i will have some candy and apples in a easy to carry bag with the logo of the agency

April 1st have everything done and ready for Final presentation and submit for approvement

Website work

My website is under construction however the sketch is ready all there is to do is work with Dreamweaver and enter the information and make sure that each part functions properly.

Website Prototype

My website will have six tabs at the top:
Home- this page will have main stuff with news and a brief update of what is going on with the capstone idea.
Mission- this page will have information about my topic and the history of the agency as well as true stories from real parents.
Gallery- this page will have photos and videos relating to our mission and real experiences of the participants.
Curriculum- this page will display the curriculum we follow and the outcomes of the curriculum.
Contact us- this page will have comments and contact information for people to communicate and give us feedback on what they are seeing.  
Research- this page will have my research and will provide sources that support my capstone idea in this page as well i will have a credits section to give credit to the sources i obtain an idea from if i used their idea.

my main goal is to make it friendly use and that everyone will be able to understand the idea of my capstone project which involves helping children and parents.

Thinking Ahead- Presentation

Personally i have decided to concentrate in the main subject which is children's education. i would use more imagery that will be familiar and friendly. I have learn that i should use graphics that will entertain and inform the audience. Watching the videos made me aware about the fact that its all about the presenter and obtaining the attention of the audience with in the first three minutes and then elaborate in the topic. I notice that the outfit of the presenters were suitable for presenting the topic as formal and serious. I have a better idea on how to use the materials available and how to present the information about my topic.

Wikipedia Black out

Wikipedia's black-out or protest against SOPA and PIPA has valid reasons.
First it provides a general view of a topic in general and most of the time it provides the sources where the information was found and the person who is going to use the information has the choice to verify authenticity of the material. Now the fact that this is happening in the country were "freedom" is enforce with some limits seems like a joke specially since U.S is consider a free country and restrictions in the internet will have major impact not only for the citizens but the whole world. Honestly i agree with the movement since its a free site and mostly everyone uses it as beginning point and then the real research begins using academic research.

Approch of Presentation

My presentation will contain some constructing and purchasing explanatory props. My idea is to show how parents involvement in school activities produces a difference in the child's academic efficiency. I will focus my time mainly on explaining the main goal of my organization and how it will make a difference with the presentation of my website. By the end of my presentation i will give a brochure that will summarize my presentation and provide more information about my idea. My attire will reflect my seriousness and my attitude will show my enthusiasm about the proposed solution.

Looks and Feels Issues

Communication for Education its an idea that will portray its purpose with a friendly appearance with colorful colors similar to the once seen at a educational institution with the help of a professional template along with visual imagery such as pie and bar graphs, every day photographs that relate with the main idea and real life interviews. I will use a site, video and printed material which will show the current stand of the communication between parents and schools as well as the positive outcomes of the usage of this project idea.
I will make my point of view understood by providing real life experiences from parents and teachers.

Communication for Success

Getting non-English speaking parents involved in the education of their children.
Improving the communication between parents and schools specially non-English speaking  parents.
The future depends on how students perform in school and research has shown that most students who perform well in academics have their parents support and those parents had been involved in extracurricular activities.
By creating a strong communication skills with parents will benefit both the school and students with a better performance in academics that will lead to a better future.
Society has change over time but if action is taken now by informing parents about what schools have to offer will create a strong base for future generations they will most likely start a new cycle.  Which will be the beginning of a new era.
